Exactly! They are very busy with mating these weeks ( see http://www.dipter...ost_172607). The decisive character to get the right Sicus species is the female theca (http://home.hccne...sicus.html), a projection of sternite 5. In your photo as well as in mine it is in side view clearly 2-3 times broader than high, so we got Sicus ferrugineus! It is a frequent species here and I do not know if I shall find another one in our region; however, without seeing the theca in a photo you cannot be sure. Regards, Sundew |
