Dear Jari, Chrysotus is quite a difficult genus to handle. The specimen in your picture seems to belong to the Chrysotus gramineus species group (it's not very clear if the third antennal segment is enlarged or not, and if the scape and pedicel are pale or not). This particular species group encompasses a number of previously recognized species e.g. C. varians, C. microcerus and C. angulicornis, the latter of which has recently been re-instated as valid species. I believe that molecular analyses might shed more light and that is what Marco Bernasconi, Christoph Germann (both Univ. Zürich) and myself are trying to do. In the meantime, I try to gather more samples of all morphospecies I can find. Cheers, Marc |
