A note from the outset; I am very much a novice with Diptera; but an interested novice just the same. I keep a biodiversity log for my property and flies always vex me. So if I am too much of a novice for this site simply let me know and I will understand. This particular fly is perched on sweetflag (Acorus) in early June of this year above a pond. I live in SW Ohio. I know it is not the clearest image but we're trying. Thank you in advance for your time and any possible insight. Sarcophagidae. Looks like the Amobia here, but might be something different altogether (what do I know about Sarcophagidae, after all).
