Hi everyone, is it possible to identify this Tabanus ? For me it looks like a Tabanus autumnalis. Found: Germany, Lower Saxony, Göttingen, sun-bathing on aroad through beech forrest, 300msm, 09.06.2011 Many thanks for comments, Christian ChristianL attached the following image: ![]() [99.17Kb] |

No eyeband, hmmm. What about body length? T. autumnalis belongs among species with upper facets 4x bigger than lower ones. Not your case... So maybe T. bovinus. Libor |

Hello Libor, oh sorry, I forgot to mention the body length, that was ca. 15mm. So probably not T. bovinus. It seems, that the Tabanidae is also a difficult group for foto ID. Best regards, Christian |
