This is a robberfly, Asilidae. I know little of this group, but perhaps it is Neoitamus cyanurus, but hopefully somebody will be able to confirm this.

Thanks again Ruud! I googled the three Norwegian species, Neoitamus socius, N. cothurnatus and N. cyanurus, and I think Neoitamus cyanurus looks about right. Leif |
