6mm, Clitheroe UK, 31 March 2011. Am I right that 6mm is too big for E. brevicornis in females as in males? This is the first big Egle I have found; lots of little ones. (Yes, it does have 4 pdc.) Stephen R attached the following image: ![]() [69Kb] |

Sadly i am stil waiting for the first Egle sp. to come and i only have some female who are doubtful and in to bad condition from last year, so i stil can’t compare, but head seems as long as high, parafacial widest on lower part seems also to fit and haustellum and palp seems also as long as largest diameter of eye ….so i think indeed Egle ciliata. (could you please collect some species for me and if possible not in alcohol but in vinegar (from apples) and one little drop of washing up liquid, so the species keep soft. Alcohol makes them hard and difficult to shape them up nicely on pins. You can safe the flies in vinegar for about 2-3 months. Edited by javanerkelens on 31-03-2011 21:54 |
