But why do you think it is an Empis livida? Absolutely not. To be honest I cannot even be sure which genus it is, but I think (!) it is a Rhamphomyia. Perhaps Paul can say more.

It is Rhamphomyia, possible crassirostris, but impossible to say from just this one view.
