Little detail is visible but it reminds me of Acletoxenus of the Drosophilidae. However, I cannot make out three pairs or orbital setae...

Thanks Paul. The specimen is packed up to go to the Australian Museum but not yet posted so I can have a look to see what I can find out about the orbital setae. |

Hi Paul, yes there are 3 pairs of setae on the top of the head, quite clear. Thanks for the genera. |

The orbital setae should be at the sides of the frons, not at the top of the head (those are the vertical and postvertical setae). Two pairs of orbital setae in Drosophilidae are reclinate (curved backwards) and one pair is proclinate (curved forwards).

There is a pair of setae just above the mouthparts at the suture. These are directed inwards so the touch at the tip. There are also two pair of setae on the frons and towards the top of the head near the ocelli. These are reclinate. Another pair of setae are posterior to the ocelli. |
