Hi! There's only pics of males of this in the gallery, is this correct? I'm sure it was a small fly maybe 4mm, but I haven't marked the size. It moved in a jerking fashion while it licked up whatever there was on the leaf. 11th June 2010, my garden near Lincoln UK. 2 pics. Janet

Hmm, yeah hard to say really - they both show the salient bits though - the way that the median vein is strongly concave after the bend and the dark costal part ... a better photo might show the absence of subscutellum but then I doubt you'd get the rest in
