Hello! A 9 mm Suillia from our gardenshed yesterday afternoon (northwest Germany). Unfortunately this is the only photo. I am so sorry, Juergen, but I am afraid the photo is too unclear. Are there the variegata markings on the wings? I am not sure at all.

BTW, I was looking outside today as well, but I did not see any Suillia. It is now the correct time for looking for Orbellia's, Oldenbergiella's, but not in the Netherlands.

Hello, Ruud! Thank you. There are at least some darker shadows in the wings, but I think, not as contrasted as in S. variegata. My first impression also was of a much bigger Suillia than that species (normally only 5-6 mm here). rvanderweele wrote: BTW, I was looking outside today as well, but I did not see any Suillia. But I have four or five other unknown Heleomyzidae from yesterday to post (I'm just examining the photos).

Orbellia and Oldenbergiella seem to be among the cold-adapted genera, active on cadavers in winter - it may even be too early yet to be looking !l |

I collected the first Orbellia hiemalis on november 15, and the first Oldenbergiella on november 3rd, in Budapest
