yes, it is a Thecophora. Not possible to say which species. You are lucky. In 2010 I did not see any Thecophora nor Zodion!

Well, look at http://diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=14699&pid=67485 You notice that Theocphora is blackish, while Zodion is greyish. Zodion is a little bit bigger, and the mouthparts are different, since the mouthpart is "bent' only once, Thecophora twice. But, be careful, in France you may also see Myopa occulta, which, if you are not looking carefully, may look like a Thecophora as well. ruud van der weele rvanderweele@gmail.com |
