According to Chandler (2010), one of my favourite species, Dasyhelea saxicola (Edwards 1929), famous for breeding in the pools in limestone pavement, has just been synonymised with D. bilineata Goetghebuer, 1920, which is almost as famous for breeding in teasel axils.

However, Chandler (1998) reported that, according to Gosseries (1991), D. bilineata Goet. is a junior synonym of D. dufouri (Laboulbene, 1869).

What is more, Chandler (2006) reported that, according to Szadziewski and Dominiak (2006), D. dufouri is a junior synonym of D. flavifrons, but added that “clarification is necessary as D. dufouri of the British list is clearly a different species”.

So, can anyone tell me, please, what is the correct name for the Dasyhelea in limestone pavement, and what are its synonyms?

Thanks in anticipation,
John Bratton

Thanks very much. Are you the P. Dominiak referred to?

I've got the Chandler articles, but if you mean the 2006 paper, yes please. Is it e-mailable? Is it where D. bilineata was desynonymised from D. dufouri?

Thanks,
John Bratton
