Hmm, interesting fly - very red on the abdomen but it does have hairy eyes, projecting mouth edge and pale basicosta ... I have never knowingly seem L.comta though so I will wait for Theo Something looks wrong though - it is very hairy and has a deep gena ... not sure what it might be though.

Looks indeed like comta-subgroup. The hairs on sternite 1 should be light, not dark, you might verify that. However, proclinate oe are lacking, so it can't be comta and should be its sister species soror. A male Theo |
