Hello! This 6 mm fly last night at the light (northwest Germany) behaved totally normal. Only when looking at the pics on the PC I noticed the big hole in its abdomen. I guess it was parasitized, but I wonder, why it was still living... Hello, Joke! javanerkelens wrote: Excellent photos Juergen! (New camera ?) No. Sometimes they get better (especially, when I can rest on a fixed surface), sometimes not. I'm still a "trial&error" photographer using mostly standard settings. Arista long haired + 3pd on hindfemur + mid / hindfemur yellow = Hylemya nigrimana! Thanks a lot! Hi Juergen, This poor Hylemya (actually vagans - dark fore femur in female) is suffering from a fungal infection, not from Entomophthora as usual, but from Strongwellsea. Verner |
