Hello!

This 6 mm fly last night at the light (northwest Germany) behaved totally normal. Only when looking at the pics on the PC I noticed the big hole in its abdomen. I guess it was parasitized, but I wonder, why it was still living...

And what a pity one.....needs a big plaster....or better surgery !!!

No. Sometimes they get better (especially, when I can rest on a fixed surface), sometimes not. I'm still a "trial&error" photographer using mostly standard settings.

Hi Juergen,

This poor Hylemya (actually vagans - dark fore femur in female) is suffering from a fungal infection, not from Entomophthora as usual, but from Strongwellsea.
