This one was resting on a birch (Betula) in my garden, Kapellen, Belgium. Is it a sarcophagid and is it possible to say more? Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Chris. When I look through the Gallery it looks like Musca to me, but I will wait for an expert. |

Tip of scutellum reddish + vein R4+5 gently bent = Muscina. Tibiae not yellow : not M. stabulans nor M. angustifrons. Antennae partly reddish and apex of cell r4+5 not broad : not M. levida. Abdomen with shifting black and silver pattern + calypter not enlarged : not M. pascuorum. Remains M. prolapsa. Edited by Stephane Lebrun on 20-08-2010 21:24 Stephane. |
