Welcome to the forum Christina - this looks like Eriothrix rufomaculata, a tachinid parasitoid of Crambus moths It often helps if you add your Location ... advice would differ if you were in Australia, for instance

Thank you for the welcome and identification ChrisR. The location was Rye Mead, an RSPB nature reserve in Hertfordshire, which is near Hoddesdon. Hope this helps and I shall remember to put up the location when I post. Thanks again Christina ![]() |
