I am not Theo, but I know :-) Hybomitra auripila is considered as color variety of Hybomitra atterima, It was synonymised by Wolfgang Schacht. Libor |

Theo, as I know, Mally did not published it, he wrote it in hid unpublished dissertation only? Schacht published it in: http://www.biologiezentrum.at/pdf_frei_remote/ENT_0015_0521-0534.pdf Libor |

Aha. The dissertation by Mally was never published ? That is new to me. So you are right. The synonymy has informally been established by Mally, but only formally by Schacht. Theo |

Schacht informed me that Mally published only few papers including Austrian checklist and then he finished Tabanid studies :-( Do you have Mally's dissertation for sending as the PDF? :-) Libor |

No, actually I have never seen Mally's thesis. And the library of the NEderlandse Entomologische Vereniging does not have a copy, whereas this library in the in top-5 worldwide in completeness. So, it is really obscure or at least hard to find. It did a pretty intensive Google search, but got only to Mally's 1989 contribution to the Austrian checklist and irrelevant other matters. Theo |
