By accident a 2nd fly got a chance to lay her eggs on some pork I used to encourage a captive Phorid to do the same (which succeeded by the way Smile)

Edit: I now think it is Muscidae Smile

Intesive pigmentation of posterior spiracles and also crescent-shaped slits are characteristic for Muscina genus. But identification to the species basing on larval morphology is very difficult and needs revision. Currently only possibility is breeding to the adult stage.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
