I want also such coloured halters!!! Looks like an odd "Soldier Fly" (Stratiomyidae), but there are some more strange families of flies in the Neotropics.... so long, xylo |

This fly belongs to the New World endemic subfamily Raphiocerinae. They are very striking flies and although there is a very recent revision, I have a hard time identifying specimens I have on hand... it just does not work for me... therefore I can not tell you the genus, even I have a very similar specimen in my collection...
