Wingpattern looks like Urophora affinis, can the ID bee confirmened? Or can it be variation of U.stylata? Found on Giant Hogweed near copenhagen 11.july. Thanks in advance, Ole ole attached the following image: ![]() [97Kb] Edited by ole on 19-07-2010 22:30 |

Hi Saeed. Both Affinis and hispanica are not yet recorded in denmark so yes. ![]() Acc. to Fauna Europaea hispanica is rec. from Spain and France while affinis is closer: germany and polen. How can you se the difference between Affinis and hispanica? Ole |

Hi Ole. it is hard to say without study the aculeus tip but as I know the discal band in U. affinis is developed to posterior margin of the wing but as you can see in the picture the discal band restricted to medial vein and preapical crossband doesn't reach to anterior margin of the wing like in U. hispanica. However It's better to wait for Valery or Severin to confirm. Edited by saeed on 19-07-2010 17:30 Saeed |

This fly, indeed, has an aberrant wing pattern, which can be RARELY found in U. stylata. U. affinis NEVER has shortened preapical crossband. I have one one or two speciemens of more than 200 stylata, which have similar pattern. In this case none of the keys works, except with oviscape tip characters...
