Hi, Some days ago I saw this small yellow Tachinid on an inflorescence of wild carrot. I think the 3rd antenna segment is not long enough for Eliozeta, so it might be Clytiomyia. The Clytiomyia continua I photographed two years ago was, however, much less golden as to face and thorax (but not as dark as the photos in the gallery). Is the colour so variable? Males & females are slightly different colours but I also have trouble with these 2 genera because I just don't see enough of them here. I would guess that it was a male Eliozeta helluo but we really need Theo's experience

I agree with Clytiomyia continua. The antenna is too short for E. pellucens and the abdomen not yellow enough for E. helluo. The difference in golden colouration in the face is a strong sexual dimorphism in these species (plural). Theo |
