Valery, In comparing my photo to others on Bugguide.net, I believe my fly looks more similar to Platystoma sp. See Fly - Platystoma seminationis. Interestingly, this is a European species introduced to the U.S. in recent years. For comparison, see Signal Fly - Amphicnephes. The wing pattern is different (large bands instead of spots near the wing base) and the white color below the eye is not apparent. So, Platystoma sp. looks better to me. |

OK, I am(was) unaware of Platystoma in the US, indeed. I have collected Amphicnephes myself, but needed to see it before sending an answer; however, my collection is at the office, and I was home then. Sorry.
