Can anyone tell to which family this round 4 mm long fly belongs. It was walking on a fallen Populus tremula wawing with one wing at a time. I was thinking this might be some Ulidiidae? Interesting fly, hope we'll get an Id of it. |

It _could be_ a Homalocephala sp., but there is no entirely dark winged species; unfortunately, I cannot see its wing in details... And even cannot confirm if it is a Ulidiid at all...

Thanks for looking at this fly valery. This fly was not dark winged, more milky or half clear (fresh speciemen?). I did not manage to get a real dorsal photo but can try in some days to se if it is present at same tree. Kurt Holmqvist |

It is not. I think I screwed up this one once before in the forum and then it was Homalocephala.

Thank to both Andrzej and Paul. Now I see that it is quite like an older thread I had. But this one was bigger, without black marking on wings and some black marking on thoraic dorsum. Kurt Holmqvist |

Dear Kurt, if you are lucky to hunt this animal again, please take a picture of its wing and of pleura, when possible. 99,9% it is a Homalocephala, and then I could ID the species.
