Compare with Milichiidae, Desmometopa.

Looks like a Phyllomyza female, probably of the P. securicornis group (see http://milichiida...curicornis). Females are difficult to identify. Irina |

Thank You Irina. In fact I tried to use the only key I have and there were no Desmometopa like this one. Jari |

Desmometopa has two lateroclinate orbital setae and Phyllomyza three. There is a key at http://milichiida...ilichiidae, but I need to improve it. Maybe one day I will find the time to do a Lucid key. Irina |

Without a good size indication and proper view of the frons it was enough for me to see that these were Milichiidae but to be not certain about genus. Hence I indicated to compare them with Desmometopa. I don't have all the characters in my head, but perhaps I will remember the orbital setae character now.

Hi Paul, it is actually not so much the head setae I was looking at. The habitus is also different, with Phyllomyza being somewhat stouter. Also, there are no Desmometopa species with such long presutural dorsocentral seta. At least not in Europe. Irina |
