Hello Walter fantastic - This is indeed a specimen of Lonchaea and thanks to the fact that it is a male of one of the few distinctive species and to your excellent photograph I am certain that it is Lonchaea contraria. The reason I am so sure is due to the clearly extended male genitalia showing a long narrow epandrium with the cerci also obviously extending near the apex. It is not too uncommon a species in central Europe and has been recorded from Hungary before see : MacGowan, I. 2007. Corrections and additions to the list of Hungarian Lonchaeidae (Diptera). Folia Entomologica Hungarica Rovartani Kozlemenyek. 68: 105–110. best wishes ..... Iain Iain MacGowan |
