Interesting fly...(collected..?) From what i can see: Prealar long and strong + hintibia with 2 av, fore femur infuscated, mid and hindfemur yellow and tibia darker but hindtibia somewhat yellowish..... Pegomya cf.seitenstettensis (leafminer of Oxalis acetosella) Joke Edited by javanerkelens on 20-06-2010 21:29 |

Pretty name, but I wouldn't have to pronounce it.

Thanks Joke, I THINK I collected it, if so you will find it in the potpurri I am preparing for you. Place-names often makes interesting species-names I think, Spilogona hardangervidensis is another, maybe one has to be norwegian to appreciate the weirdness though. Hyperbolizer |

Joke, could I show you anything that would nail it to seitenstettensis?

There are some other species with long and strong prealar (rugulosa, seitenstettensis, solennis, caesia) But Pegomya seitenstettensis is the only one with very dark fore and midtibia and mid and hindtibia yellow and darkened apically.... The other species have different coloring of the legs. I could say....it is P.seitenstettensis, but it just feels better with the species in hand to be 100% sure.. So i hope you can manage to collect a male species! Joke |
