Emerged from pupa of Satyrium pruni (Lycaenidae). Size 10 mm. Found 2 possible candidates: Listrodromus and Virgichneumon.

Subject changed (June 17, 2010) from: Ichneumonidae, June 13, 2010 to: Ichneumon brevis, male (Camille Thirion and Joel Valemberg det.)

While others can't climb, using infinite pains,
I, gravity turning to jest,
Ascend, with all ease, perpendicular planes,
Rough or smooth, just as pleases me best.

The host (different pupa of course, and not the same scale).

It is a rare male of Ichneumon brevis Tischbein!
It would be extremely interesting to have it for checking of certain details, possible or not?
J.Valemberg dt who asks for also the authorization please of use the photographs in his gallery of reference!

Many thanks Camille (and Joel Valemberg) - it's not mentioned at all in The Keys to the Insects of the European Part of the USSR, vol. 3, pt. 3 (1981) - Fauna Europaea gives distribution in Austria and France - the only reference I've found is N.F. Meyer, vol. 1, p.122, 176 (1933), as a parasite of Thecla ilicis. I keep the pinned specimen so could have tried to check what needed (or just keep it more for experts). Of course Mr. Valemberg can use the images in his gallery.
