Can anyone help me with the ID of this small black fly seen in a damp meadow in the UK. (About 3-4mm from memory, but not reliable.)

Should be Nemotelus, Stratiomyiidae. |

Many thanks Viktor. Having had a look in Stubbs and Drake's book on British soldierflies I'm thinking female Nemotelus nigrinus (no forking of R4+5, no white markings). Does anyone see any objections to that? Edited by DavidG on 28-05-2010 11:07 David |
