It can be ID-ed, but I'd rather have the specimen to do it then the picture.

Well first I have to catch a pigeon which should be simple enough, the tricky bit is catching one who knows where you live Frown
But seriously, however you want it, at whatever address.

Roger

Got some Sphaeroceridae to ID too, just a couple, one only 1mm Frown and do you fancy trying those Cecidomiidae I posted in a thread yesterday awkward. that would drive a sane man to drink Smile

Sphaeros are okay. Gall midges give me a bad case of indigestion unless I eat them Wink

And my address is here: http://www.nhmmaa...gemeen.htm

Mr. Thomason, may I congratulate you on your excellent capabilities as a dipterists and express my deepest sympathy at your capabilities to photograph the specimens?
You, indeed, collected Empis veralli but managed to take a picture of the only female in the bunch that missed the fork in R4+5 in both wings. The picture of the male did not show the genitalia or the wings properly, so could not be identified from a picture either. I have now examined the specimens you sent so I can confirm your initial ID and correct my own.

Dr Beuk, you certainly may if you feel the need, but wonder which word could be missing after "dipterists", as the word implies something to follow, possibly "nightmare" or something along those lines?
Your deepest sympathies would be much better expressed to others on D.info, (too numerous to mention) but I thought you might have liked the challenge. I think you should photograph them properly and post them to this thread so I and others might benefit from seeing how it should be done.
Enough Twaddle for one post from me, and a big thank you for determining these for me.
Regards Roger

PS. Can I have my pigeon back! Send it by mail as it doesn't know my address...it only knew yours....TA
