If it's a male I suggest preparing the male genitalia Also, how big is it and can we see a dorsal view and a good view showing the depth of the gena vs eye height?

It's looking a bit Phorocera-ish but it might just be the angle that is confusing me ... but the male genitalia look big and could be distinctive

Yes, I believe this is indeed Phorocera obscura. I emptied jus my malaise and there were four more of these. Large black genitals and white beard. Jari |

Here some more pictures. All my Phorocera are dark and this one has bright orange triangulars on side of abdomen.

I would just compare the genitalia to known Phorocera - they are quite distinctive

Thank You Theo. We have assimilis in our list but no specimens in our database (so far ) This must be a bit better species in Finland I believe. I think I have two or three like this among dozens of obscura.Jari |
