This female Thereva from an inland sandy site, S England. Can it be identified to species?

Given habitat and date (is it recent ?), I'd guess it is either strigata or plebeja.

Those two are very similar.

Many thanks Theo - yes it is very recent (12/05/10).

In UK strigata seems to be exceedingly rare so plebeja must be the most likely candidate.
