Yes, that's T.ursina - very characteristic narrow, white bands on the abdomen Nice record too - could you PM me the grid reference and I will put it into the recording scheme database

Thanks Paul. I suggested Jane should put this up for confirmation. By a coincidence I had a few days before been sent a specimen of the same: Tachina ursina 20 Apr 2010 Inverawe NN02293120 1 Obs Carl Farmer Det Murdo Macdonald (on the basis of your ID here). These extend the range significantly in Scotland. I will see if the specimen will be acceptable at NMS (it has one wing detached and will need relaxing and setting). Murdo |
