Not the finest piece of photography I've ever done but this is all I got of this fly...Frown I thought it was an Oecothea sp. but it is lacking spines on tibia 2. Some kind of Eccoptomera or something totally different? Neither genus gets a mention in my Checklist.

Did you consider Heterocheila buccata (not Heleomyzidae because no vibrissae) ?
Stephane.

Thanks Stephane and Andrzej for putting me right...Grin
Frown It didn't cross my mind that this could be H.buccata..I was looking at the odd head shape and didn't even notice that the vibrisse were missing. I have 5 photo's of H.buccata in the Gallery which gives this an embarrassment factor of 5/10. The only thing in my defence is the different gender of that fly, as the head shape is nothing like this one. So is this a male or female of the species? Just so I know next time.

Regards Roger....back under the stairs again.

Not the finest bit of ID'ing I've ever done...just to match the photography.
