Can someone give this Rhamphomyia a species name? It was found on a blackberry in the Netherlands, last week.

Rhamphomyia (Rhamphomyia) cinerascens. Have the exact location and date...? BTW: That second specimen you sent, was that in the forum yet? And do you have location and date for that one, too? Paul - - - - Paul Beuk on https://diptera.info |

16-04-2010 51.491057,4.012313 The other specimen wasn't in the forum, because I thought the smaller species of Empis were impossible to determine from photo. Did you give it a name? Data of this one: 20-04-2010 51.49164,4.05067 Thanks, Niels |

If you have photo AND specimen there should be problem. The species was Empis caudatula.

Pictures of mini-Empis are difficult for identification, but if you take pictures and the specimen after the pictures, the specimen will give you the ID.
