Hello, this ~8mm is from today from a playground near Cologne. In the galleries I found some similar Myopa species. Is this genus correct? Can perhaps also the species be identified? Thanks, Michael Michael Becker attached the following image: ![]() [33.17Kb] Edited by Michael Becker on 14-04-2010 21:01 |

Thank you for your answers. Then with those black and white spots on the wings it can only be Myopa buccata, or are there other such species? Michael |

No, it is not Buccata, since the middle cross vein is not whitish, but dark. It belongs to the testacea-group, but I think it is difficult to say which species from this photo. I just may add that it appears (!) perhaps to me quite hairy. But I can't see the hairs on the abdomen. Maybe somebody else would like to bet? ruud van der weele rvanderweele@gmail.com |

Thank you again for the answer. The position of the fly was so unfavorable, that I couldn't make a better photo of the abdomen. I will safe the pictures as Myopa sp. Michael |

It's a pleasure! Don't worry too much that we can't decide which species; it is a lovely photo. I like it a lot
