Is it possible to tell from this photo if this fly really is a tachinid and to which genus it belongs - perhaps even which species it is? Found in Bilthoven (Netherlands) in a garden.

That is not golden, that is bronze. Female Lypha dubia, very common in Bilthoven in april Theo |

Thank you, Theo. After some searching, I found Lypha dubia is a winter moth parasite. As there are a lot of winter moth larvae in this time of year, I guess it must be common in much of Holland. Kind regards Menko Vlaardingerbroek |

Menno You are right. Lypha is polyphagous, however, it is more or less specialized in Operophthera. It is always common in april. Theo |
