This is a Chironominae with hairy wings. Most Tanytarsini and a few genera of Chironomini have hairy wings. The way the front legs are held, with femora up over the thorax, "knee" bent at a right angle, and rest of legs pointed ahead or ahead and to the side, is distinctive. |
