Hello, Here is what I think being a Dolichopodidae (?) I met on 15th July in Brittany, France :    Length was 4 mm. Can anyone confirm the family and precise the ID ? Thanks Benoit Benoit MARTHA  |

Dear Benoit, I'd guess it's a female of Dolichopus plumipes, possibly the most common and eurytopic dolichopodid species in Europe (and encountered in the entire Holarctic and Mongolia). The only aspect that seems strange is the darkish dorsal border of scape and pedicel, but it's certainly no D. wahlbergi or D. polleti (which have an entire pale hind tibia) nor D. simplex (has an entire black mid metatarsus).
