Wonderful. Many thanks for the pdf. I'll wade through it to see if I can come up with a species. I have found one pictured on ozanimals.com which is called A. connexus, looks very much like mine.

I guess the best thing to do right now is to get in touch with dr Dan Bickel (Dan.Bickel@austmus.gov.au), dolichopodid expert at the Australian National Museum in Sydney.
