Hello, can someone tell me a nearer ID of this fly? I'd say this is Scathophagidae, but I've no more idea. On dog shit, the Netherlands. As big as S. stercoraria.

Most probable a Fucellia sp. (Anthomyiidae) Tibia seems yellowish and no hairs between acrostichals ....then F.tergina or fucorum could be. F.tergina is official not found yet in the Netherlands , but most probable a common species (have found also several species) Has the midtibia an av seta..? Than it is most probable Fucellia fucorum. (has 1-2 av on midtibia) But than the tibia should have the same color as femurs (dark greyish) Bit difficult to see clear on your photos... If the tibia still are clearly yellow, then it is F.tergina Joke |

It's due to the lighting it's very difficult to see from the picture, but the tibia are clearly dark greyish. Thanks, Joke. |

It is Fucellia fucorum male. In the first microscope photo one can just see the tubercle ventrally at the base of the hind femur. This plus dark tibia and an av seta on t2 confirms this. Was it caught near or at the coast? |
