Hi all, I'm new on this forum and a beginner concerning Syrphidae. Is this male a Scaeva selenitica? Photo taken in central Switzerland near Lucerne, altitude 1340 m, July 3rd 2009. Thanks Uli Ulrich Pfaendler attached the following image: ![]() [74.31Kb] Edited by Ulrich Pfaendler on 25-02-2010 21:23 |

Given the broad angle between the eyes and the spots which do not reach lateral margin of abdomen, I am confident with Scaeva selenitica.
