Hi all,

I'm new on this forum and a beginner concerning Syrphidae.

Is this male a Scaeva selenitica? Photo taken in central Switzerland near Lucerne, altitude 1340 m, July 3rd 2009.

Thanks

Uli

Unfortunately this is the only picture I have.

Thank you for your response, best regards

Given the broad angle between the eyes and the spots which do not reach lateral margin of abdomen, I am confident with Scaeva selenitica.
Stephane.
