Hello, this photo of a one-eyed fly is from last april from a barranco in western Tenerife. Is this a Bombyliidae? Can perhaps something be said about genus and/or species despite the damaged head? Hello David, many thanks for your answer. According to the Fauna Europaea there are only 4 Villa species on the canaries: V. albiventris, V. fasciata, V. nigriceps and V. nigrifrons. Do you know, wheter they are distinguishable by photo, or only by their genital? Michael |
