I found this fly in southern Hungary. I think this is an uncommon fly in this country. Can it be identified reliably to species? To my knowledge only one sp. is recorded in Hungary.

No, the checklist of Hungarian diptera mentions 2 species: rossicus and virescens. And perhaps fuscipennis may occur there as well, because it is known from former Yugoslovia and Romania. The fly on the photo seems to me to be C. virescens, which is not rare in Hungary ruud van der weele rvanderweele@gmail.com |
