It's a diptera belonging to Asilidae family.
Can you please give me the specific ID?

Location: Sila Mountains, Calabria, South-Italy.
Altitude: 1450 mt
Date: July, 31 th 2008
Size: About 17 mm long.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
