Dear members,

Belongs this fly to the genus Cheilosia?
Size was 8 mm.
Photo 16.4. 09 garden in Lower Austria, near and in the northwest of Vienna.

Yep, it's the female of Cheilosia caerulescens, often seen in gardens were the female lays her eggs in plants like
Sempervivum arachnoideum, S. montanum en S. tectorum. Others mentioned are Geum montanum, Solidago virgaurea en Tussilago farfara.
