That's too difficult

Might be the male of Philipomyia aprica,

That helps

You were right from the beginning: it is a male Tabanus

T. tergestinus comes in mind, but it should have 2-3 green bands on lower eye. Often difficult to see. In high lights you should be able to see remnants of these bands.

Actually, on the last pic, you can see traces of 1 band.

If there is really only one, it can't be tergestinus.

Hope you understand and can check.

Dear Theo, I think when flash angle is good, You can see 2 slighlty visible bands. I put a little contras on it:
