The British checklist (Chandler 1998) mentions that most British specimens identified as H. serrata are really captiosa, but both species may occur here. Can anyone send me diagrams of how to distinguish these two, please? I've seen Ralph Sipple's excellent photo of the terminalia of captiosa. Does it show the important bit? Would you mind telling me the full reference for Gorodkov in Bei-Bienko (1988), please? The most recent of Bei-Bienko's books I can find in British booksellers is 1980. Thanks John |

There is a revision of the genus Heleomyza made by Gorodkov in 1962 where the drawings were originally published ! Spermathecae of both species were presented in Dipteron-Wroclaw (vol_22) at: http://pte.au.poz...vol_22.pdf Andrzej EDIT Paul Beuk: added url tags to make the link clickable.
