I thought I'd mention the indexing and availability of many old publications at the Biodiversity Heritage Library. (http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/)

An easy way to find papers of interest to you is to search a taxon name at the Encyclopedia of Life (http://www.eol.org/) which will generate, among other things, a list of links to literature available for free at the BHL.

Most of the material they have is old (out of copyright) but there's a lot of newer material that has been contributed as well.

If everyone already knows about this, I'm sorry for taking your time. But it was new to me and I was astounded at what is available and how easy it is to get to.
