What can be said about this dolichopodid? It was found on the 15th of October 2009 in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal.

Thanks Jorge! I was thinking of that genus because of the antennae, but I wasn't sure. Some time ago I posted another species of Rhaphium in the forumSmile.

Syntormon has a thumb-like projection of the second into the third antennal segment on the inner side (not visible on this picture), the third antennal segment is tapering, arista subapical, hind basitarsus usually ornamented.

Best wishes,
Stefan

also hind basitarsus seems to be no ornamented in this specimen. It seems that the hind coxa have strong hairs in outer part. I know Rhaphium has a convex occiput but here this photo doesn't show it. (Syntormon has a concave occiput?)

I see hook on hind basitarss!
Therefore, Syntormon pallipes (Fabricius, 1794) is most probable (dark phenotype).
