Hello,

I had a few of these sunning on Choisya leaves, on 13th April 2009. A very impressive looking fly! I'm not sure the dorsal view is the same fly but they were all the same, it was taken a few mintues after the first.

My garden, near Lincoln UK.

Posting 5 pics as I have cropped a closer view of the tail and head ends.

Comparing with my own species it does like a D.radicum...
I see no ad on midtibia, costal spine strong, radial node thick and dark (is no ID reference, just recognition)
Lots of hairs on top of hindtibia and it seems to have hairs between the notopleurals.....
As student i would say...Delia cf radicum, but maybe Ackland jumps out of his seat now....Shock
